Fajar flew to Jakarta for INAPA, ASEAN's Largest International Expo in order to report from this annual event so that our readers won't miss out on any events happening in our industry. The show took place from 18 to 21 March 2015 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta.

The 7th Indonesia International Auto Parts, Accessories and Equip Exhibition 2015 conclude with another record number of exhibitors and visitors.

Bus, Truck and Components
One bus company exhibiting at the expo caught our eye: New Armada showcased their latest product, which is the Magneto Vision. It owns an elegant and futuristic exterior and interior design. New Armada is the leading bus company in Indonesia.

Other brands of interest, showing prime movers and trucks, were Shacman and two truck body manufacturers representing HINO.
“Competition in Indonesia for trucks currently shows a decline, but luckily, Shacman still maintains a strong position in the market. Our low price has made us the first choice for logistics and construction industries. We believe that every expo is a good platform to broaden our network and promoting the brand name,” said a representative from Shacman.

Our Malaysian battery brand, Yokohama did not miss the chance to participate in the expo either. According to a Yokohama representative we spoke to at the stand, Indonesia as a market is quite tough for their business. Yokohama has one agent in the country to handle the entire range of batteries. Indonesians are apparently loyal to their local brand, therefore it is quite a challenge for outsiders to successfully introduce their brand in this market.

Nevertheless, Yokohama just launched their new traction batteries for forklifts. Following this, more products from this Malaysian brand will soon be available in Indonesia.

Tires
In a separate hall one finds tyres and we managed to speak to a number of exhibitors to get their feedback on how the tyre business is doing in Indonesia. SAILUN Tires are a tyre brand from China and they also have a branch in Malaysia. According to their team, last year, business was quite slow, but they are optimistic for the sales of this year.
