The Bus Industry Confederation of Australia (BIC) are taking a large delegation of Australian based bus operators, manufacturing and supplier organisations and government officials to Singapore for the 2015 BIC National Conference at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel.
The event will start on November 8 for a 3 day program that assembles speakers and experts on the future of public transport and how we move people in, around and through cities.
Executive Director of the BIC Michael Apps says the importance of connecting neighbourhoods, having great transport options and urban planning has been a key success factor in Singapore’s mega city status as a thriving and liveable city.
“The reality is that Australia’s cities and regions, like much of the world, are struggling with population growth and ageing, congestion, transport and land use management,” says Apps.
“By coming to Singapore, this give us the opportunity for Australia to learn from and exchange information with our neighbouring Asia Pacific countries.”
The program will also include technical sessions with experts and panellists that will discuss what the future bus looks like, innovation including telematics and performance based standards for innovative new vehicles. “The program is very diverse and there is something in it for everyone, operators, suppliers, government” says Apps.
