MAN Truck and Bus (M) Sdn Bhd (MAN) announced today it has started providing mobile service workshops to customers - where MAN brings the workshop to the customer’s doorsteps instead of requiring customers to bring their vehicles to the standard workshops for service and maintenance.

Four of the world’s largest bus and engine manufacturers have committed today to make it easier for major cities to purchase buses equipped with low emissions technologies, in order to tackle climate change and toxic air pollution. BYD, Cummins, Scania and Volvo Buses will ensure ‘soot-free’ engine technology is available for purchase in 20 megacities beginning in 2018. The manufacturers will each release through their websites a full product portfolio available in each city and will begin publicly reporting the number of soot-free buses sold in each year.
The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) has appointed Qamar Wan Noor as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective September 5, 2017.
A magna cum laude in Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York in 1990, Qamar began her career with Shell in 1990. In her 26-year long career with Shell, she held many positions including senior management roles in Malaysia, Asia Pacific and the Middle East. She led the Marketing Supply and Distribution teams in ensuring safe and efficient asset utilisation in terminals, land and marine logistics in both Oman and UAE, and later in Malaysia and Singapore.

At the recent UITP Global Public Transport Summit held in Montreal, Canada, the Saudi Arabian bus operator SAPTCO (Saudi Public Transport Company) and the French public transport company RATP Dev (Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens) signed a contract for 242 MAN Lion’s City M city buses. Scheduled for delivery in 2018, these will be the first MAN buses on the roads of the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh. Michelin Malaysia has launched its ‘Tyres Are Not Bananas” educational campaign to focus emphasis on tyre quality and care instead of preoccupation with the date of manufacture of the product as numerous research had proven that performance was not solely based on the age of a tyre.
Using bananas and its limited shelf life and freshness as an example, Michelin aims to educate motorists that the countdown on the life of the tyre began with the date of fitment and dedication to regular tyre care rather than an overemphasis on the date of manufacture.

He retired as chairman effective 3 June 2017.
Handpicked by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak as the Chairman of SPAD in June 2010, Syed Hamid Albar has driven SPAD’s journey in spearheading transformation in the land public transport industry, a critical agenda under the National Transformation Programme.
Under his steadfast leadership, SPAD had successfully developed and launched the National Land Public Transport Master Plan (NLPTMP) and the Greater Kuala Lumpur LPT Master Plan in 2013, which will guide the implementation of initiatives such as macro-level policies, strategies and plans, including major infrastructure investments and regulatory and policy changes for the next 20 years. It was also under his stewardship that various transformative measures for the industry were rolled out such as the Interim Stage Bus Support Fund, the Stage Bus Services Transformation, completion of the LRT Extension Project (LEP), rollout of the Phase 1 of MRT Line 1 and the Taxi Industry Transformation Programme.
